Solid Hardwood Flooring Installation

Solid wood can be a lasting choice when the product, subfloor and indoor conditions suit the room. Have an installer assess those details before you choose a species or plank width.

Before committing to solid hardwood, use Tallahassee Flooring Contractors Group to request a conversation with an independent provider.

Ask about moisture before appearance

Wood responds to changes in moisture. A sound installation starts with checking the substrate and the product requirements, then planning acclimation and room conditions.

Wide boards can show seasonal movement differently from narrow strips. Discuss that tradeoff using the specific flooring you are considering.

Separate finished and unfinished options

Factory finished wood and wood finished in the home create different schedules. Ask whether sanding, stain, finish coats and protection of nearby rooms are included.

For work finished on site, confirm when you can walk through and when rugs or heavy furniture can return. Dry to the touch does not necessarily mean fully cured.

Compare the whole project

Species, grade, layout and stairs all affect the scope. Herringbone or a border requires different planning from straight rows. Get a written layout decision before work begins.

Ask how removal, damaged subfloor areas and adjoining floor heights will be handled. A clear allowance is easier to compare than a low labor number with no preparation detail.
